From what I've been following the lower and mid-elevations are being rapidly envoloped as a result of that Buffel Grass. Wnder how many precious Saguaros will be lost ? So sorry for your states problems there. All kinds of species of fungi and bugs are specialists that thrive on the burned wood, and bring the nutrients that are left back to the soil. Where dense canpy opened up, flowering meadows thrive for a while. So far so good. But with the warming of the climate, a mature Ponderosa forest may never regrow, so changes are inevitable and the big old trees are a sad loss. It was sad that so much of the mountain has burned to a crisp. In fact since I first visited this mountain in the late 1970s, every year thereafter new areas of destruction have taken place. Just sad.

On your fairy and elf pile there, it reminds me of that memorial scene in the early 1970s film, Jeremiah Johnson where the Crow and other tribes are creating a memorial to Johnson (Robert Redford).Chaparral Earthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00618976919417073750noreply@blogger.com
